Dr. Thaddeus Camlin joined Practical Recovery in 2014. He completed undergraduate work in psychology and theology at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He earned his doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego. He completed his graduate studies with an emphasis in integrative psychology and conducted his doctoral research on people who took ibogaine to interrupt a pattern of opiate use. He is a SMART Recovery facilitator and one of only a few certified CRAFT Therapists in California. Specific therapeutic modalities involve an integrated, individualized application of Existential, Humanistic, Jungian, and Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT, DBT, ACT) methods.
Offering a self-empowering option for addiction treatment is meaningful to Dr. Camlin because many people don’t respond well to a powerlessness, confrontational approach. There is ample room for improvement in the treatment of addiction. At Practical Recovery, Dr. Camlin enjoys being a small part of the much needed change that pushes addiction treatment standards towards mutual respect, empirical methodology, and practices that don’t stifle the resiliency of the human spirit.
